Family Conflict

Do you feel excessive worry every time you have to visit with family? Do you always feel like you have to make sure everyone is having a good time to try and avoid conflict? Does mom or dad call you to complain about your sisters or brother or aunt or uncle, then one of them calls you to complain about mom or dad leaving you feeling stuck in the middle? Have you ever felt like you are the parent in the relationship with mom or dad? Do you ever feel like love is conditional based on whether or not you do exactly what is expected of you? Are there constant blow-ups over even minor inconveniences?

If this sounds right, it's time to work on better ways of navigating family conflicts. Family is often our greatest source of support, but it can also be the source of our deepest frustrations. Whether you are dealing with constant bickering, a major life transition, or years of "sweeping things under the rug," therapy offers a structured, neutral space to learn new skills to help manage these relationships.
